Treks and tours in USA

Country

Imagine a succession of innumerable deserts, canyons and mountain chains....The idea of huge spaces, a nature in its' raw state and the image of "wilderness" all take on a true dimension of their own! The West of the United States is a fabulous invitation to travel.  Everything is enormous and of a mysterious beauty.  Even the sky is larger than elsewhere and incites one to keep going further....
Besotted with liberty, our trips take you on the tracks of the immigrants who left their land and founded the New World.  Discover the vastness of the West, in the spirit of the American road films !
Magnificent, unedited hikes in the most secretive corners of these lusted after places will plunge you even further into the legend.  The American myth ?  You have never been so close.....

Climate

The climate is very varied as a result of this immense territory....very different from California to Alaska.
You can, therefore, travel in all seasons, by best choosing the region.
As a general rule, the climate is very continental with rigorous winters and hot summers.
-Only the Pacific coast benefits from a more temperate climate, but it is a lot more humid, as well.
-The desert zone encompassing the states of Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Southern Colorado present a dry continental climate with very cold winters and hot summers.  In summer in the National Parks, it generally is very hot, but the dry air helps in putting up with the heat.
-In the Rocky Mountains and the Sierra Nevada (Yosemite, Whitney, Bryce, etc...), you have a climate typical of higher altitudes with major variations in temperature between day and night.
-Certain regions, like Death Valley, are ideal for winter time visits:  the weather is, for the most part, beautiful, even if cold.  Lesser crowds, magnificent luminosity, excellent visibility and the snow covered mountains are a supplemental attraction for travelers in this season.
-In Alaska, the climate is sub-polar and in Hawaii, it is extremely balmy.

Colorado Climate
The climate of Colorado is quite complex compared to most of the United States. The typical south-north/cooler-warmer variation in other states is not generally applicable in Colorado. Mountains and surrounding valleys greatly affect local climate. As a general rule, with an increase in elevation come a decrease in temperature and an increase in precipitation. A main climatic division in Colorado occurs between the Rocky Mountains on the west and the plains on the east; the foothills form a transitional zone between the two.

Our Story

It all began back in 1994 when Catherine and Grisha KRAVTCHENKO came to Aspen from Chamonix, France, through Aspen friends that they met skiing in Chamonix and via the Sister Cities Aspen-Chamonix.  They fell in love with the area.  They began their days here as ski instructors with Grisha also working as a mountain guide and a tandem paragliding flight pilot.
At about this same time, some 15 years ago, Grisha, UIAGM / IFMGA professional mountain guide, based in Chamonix France, also began to work part-time for the French Allibert-Trekking adventure travel tour operator. Grisha led some Allibert-Trekking clients to the summit of Mont Blanc, Mont Rose etc... and was sent all over the world for climbing, expedition and technical trekking trips. A great relationship has since emerged between Grisha, his wife Catherine and the Allibert-Trekking travel team which led Grisha to make a proposition to them.  The proposition was to create adventure travel trips adapted to the American and Anglo-Saxon clientele. Hence, in 2007, a partnership was created.  Established as Mountain World Travel, the company takes roots in Aspen, Colorado where Grisha and Catherine, now play and work.
